SERVICES

Preservation and enhancement of the environment, compliance with increasingly complex regulatory requirements and use of advanced technologies in buildings and infrastructure development require an experienced, dedicated, hands-on professional team. Since 1946, Converse Consultants has specialized in providing hands-on experience to develop practical solutions in geotechnical engineering, materials testing / inspection, environmental science and water resources management."

We started with Frederick J. Converse, whose name became synonymous with soil mechanics and foundations. Mr. Converse worked on projects over the years including the BART tunnel, power plants and dams for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, the Saturn Missile Test Stand for NASA, the California Aqua-duct and deep piers for a suspension bridge in Lisbon, among many other interesting projects. His involvement in materials testing dated to World War I when he was chosen to develop a laboratory for the old Bureau of Aircraft Production. Earning the title of Professor Emeritus, Mr. Converse taught at Caltech from 1921-1962, when the school was called Throop Institute of Technology.

After World War II he formed a Pasadena-based consulting firm known as Converse Consultants Pasadena, and worked on thousands of projects around the world. Fred Converse understood the importance of building solid and lasting foundations. Over 60 years later, we hope to continue the legacy that he began so long ago.
