The purpose of observation and testing is to verify that the work is done in compliance with the approved plans and specifications, and, in particular, the recommendations of the project geotechnical report. Converse possesses special expertise and equipment to provide structural pavement sections and subgrade preparation recommendations based on the plans, specification and geotechnical reports. Our scope of work may include:

• Review of material certificates.
• Review mix designs.
• Perform laboratory tests for mix density (Marshall).
• Secure samples of uncompacted paving mixtures and compacted pavement according to Caltrans or AASHTO or ASTM.
• Perform extraction/gradation tests.
• Perform in-place density tests by nuclear method.
• Inspection of placement.
• Core in place AC for thickness and density.
• Perform finished surface testing of each hot-mix asphalt course for compliance with smoothness tolerances.
• Prepare reports summarizing all observations and test results.

Fireproofing

Fireproofing The purpose of spray-applied fire-resistive materials observation is to verify that the application of material is in accordance with the project specifications, applicable codes, and manufacturers recommendations. Our scope of services may include:

• Inspect spray on fireproofing during construction.
• Perform fireproofing material density testing.
