United States Military Training Facilities

Project Location:

Southern California

Converse Responsibilities:

Geotechnical Investigation

Camp Pendleton Training Facilities

The project involved a proposed military urban terrain training facilities to be located within a military base, in Southern California. The project consisted of construction of various training facilities, mock up buildings and gravel roads. The mock up buildings were constructed from retrofitted and painted standard size containers (40' long by 8' wide by 8' tall). The containers were stacked up to four containers high, placed on a graded pad. The buildings were designed to resist wind and earthquake loads.

Converse conducted geotechnical investigations for 8 different sites. Our scope of work included drilling borings to determine the general subsurface conditions and develop geotechnical recommendations for the design of foundations and other geotechnical aspects of the project. We prepared three separate geotechnical investigation reports for the project.
