Geotechnical Investigation and Geotechnical, Design Summary Report
Converse conducted a geotechnical investigation for the Universal City Station and crossover structure of the Metro Red Line Subway. The cut-and-cover structure is about 920 feet long, 70 feet wide, requiring excavations about 80 to 90 feet below the existing surface located west of Lankershim Boulevard.
Converse conducted a field exploration to evaluate subsurface conditions and a pump test to evaluate shallow groundwater conditions for the two-year construction period, as well as permanent water proofing for the buried station structure. The Geotechnical Design Summary Report included recommendations for dewatering, temporary and permanent stability for excavated slopes and tiebacks.
